Borgore is the alias of Israeli dubstep producer Asaf Borger, who is currently releasing tunes through Shift Recordings, Terminal Dusk, Trill Bass, Zaudio, and Mad Decent. He is also a drummer for the death metal band Shabira, and part of the dubstep duo Alphamale Primates, which consists of him and tomba.

He has recently finished a massive US tour to sold out dates everywhere and a plethora of positive reviews. He is now in the process of signing with a major label. Under one year this music lover has turned his passion into a career.

SKISM
2010 saw the mysterious SkisM rapidly cement himself onto the global Dubstep Map. Blasting onto the scene with his now classic debut ‘The Blank’, SKisM’s tracks have since received support from the likes Pendulum, Chase & Status, Scratch Perverts, Rusko, Nero and Plastician to name but a few. He has remixed chart topping Dubstep giants such as Excision & Datsik, as well as putting his inimitable production style on the vocal talents of UK rappers the Foreign Beggars & Envy. Blazing trails through Club Nights all over the world, SKisM’s frantic 3 deck DJ Sets are gaining notoriety as fast as his musical output. With upcoming tours of Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Europe & America, SKisM’s Dubplates & Mixing skills have secured him a place amongst the busiest DJs of the Dubstep Elite.

Subliminal
Andrew Carr aka Subliminal was born in raised in the dirty south, Memphis, TN. Influenced early on by the gritty beats and lyrics of early/mid 90′s Memphis rap artists such as Triple Six Mafia, his search for deep bass and hard beats has taken him on a journey that eventually led him to Denver, CO. After discovering drum and bass as a senior in high school in Memphis 1999, he immediately gravitated towards DJing and finding the most underground, cutting edge bass music.

Looking for green pastures in the d&b world, he moved to Atlanta in 2003 and became integrated into the scene, starting the night Resolution and record label Forestry Service Recordings. As the years went on, Subliminal’s passion for drum and bass waned, as he felt the majority of the sound had hit a wall and the original vibe from the music he loved was fading from the sound. Serendipitously, in 2005 he heard his first dubstep tune, Toasty’s “Like Sun”, and was instantly hooked on the sound. Dj sets from Youngsta & N-Type from UK’s Rinse FM radio shows cemented his new love, and supplied him with endless listening and inspiration. Early 2006, he brought the first Dubstep show to Atlanta featuring Dubstep’s US ambassador Joe Nice. It was not received well. People were not ready for Dubstep in Atlanta yet, as it would take a couple more years for people to start catching on to the new sound.

After moving to Denver in 2007, Andrew hit the internet to search out fellow Dubsteppers and coincidentally became part of the early days of Sub.mission.

Every time he is in town, the dubsteppers of Colorado have been there to support Borgore to the fullest. I had my doubts about Thanksgiving night but it was no different than any other. I would say it was about 10:00pm when the tickets sold out, right around the time Dodger was finishing his set. RumbleJunkie took the stage soon after and threw it down proper on vinyls with time coded records. When Borgore finally took the stage, the massive crowd out in the smoking area diminished and the hyped up fans got extra rowdy. The reflection from a giant projector, which overlapped the top of the DJ booth, illuminated the entire room and the light rays coming from the sound booth were visible like spot lights from all the humidity in the air. The Israli producer was using Pioneer CDJ’s which I was not expecting (last time, at The Gothic, he was using Serato with vinyls). It seemed as if he wasn’t as comfortable with the CDJ’s because he was only mixing a lot of the tracks for a short moment before cutting to the next track. None the less he played every song I was hoping to hear, his stage presence was full of energy and the crowd was really feelin’ it the whole time. I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving weekend, I know I did thanks to Sub.Mission. See you at the next show!

When 12th Planet, aka John Dadzie took the stage he immediatly brought that west coast dubstep sound that has made his shows famous throughout the dubstep community, and didn’t let up during his entire set. The crowd was drawn in instantly with his energy, and made sure everyone there knew what they were gettin into for the rest of the night.

12th Planet, previously known as Infiltrata, became famous in LA after forming Imperial Records, a substantial force in the LA dubstep scene as well as the medium for putting out his very first releases in 2002. Since this time he has collab’d with many prominent dubstep producers, most famously with Datsik on the track Texx Mars. His fame also increased when dubstep heavyweight Doctor P remixed his song Reasons which has been smashing clubs all over the world since its release. While famous for his west coast sound, 12th Planet threw in a variety of sounds including everything from deep, dubby, hip-hop, to very glitchy, robotic dubstep. He also played some recent dubstep hits such as Noisias remix of Skrillex’s “Scary Monsters and Sprites”, that has gotten dubstep floors rockin’ everywhere.

Daedelus, for many reasons was one of the more interesting DJ sets I have seen in a long time. His classic look of an old pastel suit on stage and unsually arranged custom built monomes is a real testament to the orginality of his style. One thing he did incredibly well was mixing his live-mashup style of innovative IDM mixed into the dubstep popular on todays dance floors. At one point he even mixed Bjrok with some old school hip-hop, with brilliant use of his unique equipment and approach.

Also hailing from the LA area (Santa Monica), Daedelus aspired from a young age to be an inventor. From these early ideas he has created a unique approach to DJing seldom scene at a show that includes his own custom-made monome. Using this equipment he was able to deliver a very unique performance.
Daedelus is part of the Brainfeeder lable with heavyweights such as show-mate The Gaslamp Killer and The Flying Lotus.

Ending the show was none other than William Benjamin Bensussen (AKA The Gaslamp Killer). William grew up listening to artists such as Jimi Hendrix, Dr. Dre and Too Short. Coming from San Diego this talented musician started his DJ career when he was only 17, playing in san diego’s historical “Gaslamp District”. In 2006 Bensussen moved to LA where he helped to found “Low End Theory” which is a weekly podcast show that showcases LA’s finest in beats.

Gaslamp Killer is also part of the Brainfeeder label, which is run by Trip-hop sensation Flying Lotus. With 3 releases under his belt now, including his most recent “Death Gate” features a unique blend of Psychedelic, Glitch, Dub, and Hip-hop.

His live performance is exceptionally energetic. William utilizes his vinyl tables in a way that i had never seen before. Mixing in-between vinyl’s and serato, he played everything from Westcoast hip-hop, Glitch hop, Dubstep, Classic Rock, and even a track from the 70′s on vinyl that was “just drums”. Live he also an Apple Ipad, which he has programmed for live step sequencing through serato, wirelessly. It is literally like no other DJ performance i had seen before.

Overall this was one of the most exceptional groups of musicians i had seen in a while. Each artist had something different to offer which kept things very interesting. I would highly suggest going to see any of these artists if you get a chance, trust me you will NOT be disappointed.

Christopher Mercer, aka Rusko was born in Leeds in 1985 to a musical family. From day one Rusko was surrounded by music. Whether it be his family’s pianos, guitars, banjos and saxophones or the heavy reggae and dub sound systems of later years in Leeds, music has always been an integral part of Rusko’s life.

After graduating from Leeds university with a degree in musical performance, Rusko discovered the world of dubstep through Sub Dub and a debut appearance from the Digital Mystikz. Having spent the past 10 years making future dub alongside Leeds very own Iration Steppas, Rusko connected with the sound and moved down to London to further advance his musical opportunities with Sub Soldiers label mate Caspa.

Veering away from the dark, serious side of the sound Rusko brought a highly driven energy and fun approach to the dubstep massive and quickly coined his own take on the genre and turned the scene upside down. His sound appealed to many people outside of the dubstep world as his productions became more adventurous in formula, sound and energy. His huge hit Cockney Thug has been played by everyone from Pete Tong, Switch, Diplo and Santogold, and has been remixed by Buraka Som Sistema, Diplo, Caspa, Drop the Lime and the Scratch Perverts.

Now at 25, Rusko is only in first gear, with collaborations on the table with the likes of Switch, Diplo , Yo Majesty and Wiley, the future sure is looking bright. Already setting the radio airwaves alight with his own productions and remixes of artists like Adele and A-Trak featuring Kid Sister, Rusko is headed in the right directions.
