Euphonic Conceptions is at it again with yet another massive lineup !! Featuring some of the top dogs in underground bass music, this is sure to be one hell of a show! The night will be filled with tons of original and unique bassy goodness, each artist shares a similar style, but they are all very different from each other in there own ways.

One of my personal favorites for the last year or so, California based NastyNasty will be playing his signature 808 lazer bass style Glitch-hop. Jasper is a master of turning any dance floor into a west coast rager, i got a chance to catch him at this years Sonic Bloom. His new EP Poison Flavored is something totally different. Each song seems to portray a different vibe while still retaining an overall feel. You can tell each one of the tracks on the EP took countless hours of work and constant tweaking. Its sure to bring a smile to some faces this Saturday.

Hailing from Los Angeles, producer & performer R/D is sure to bring some heaters. Rocking his crunchy Glitch style, this set is sure to be one to get everyone moving. R/D just released a brand new EP this week titled “Bay/Crush” is a definite banger. With elements of epicness, ambience, and heavy bass this EP is sure to do great on the charts, sitting at the #1 spot on the Glitch-Hop charts on Beatport right now.

Legendary iLL Gates is known best for his collaborations with big names like Bassnectar, Mim0sa, Opiou, Samples, Datsik & Mat The Alien to name a few. Also a renouned music production guru, he does an Ableton workshop for kids interested in getting into music production and Ableton which has been said to be amazing. iLL Gates sets himself apart from his peers with his constant changing style and careful attention to detail. His latest album, “The iLL.Methodology” has been stirring up all kinds of talk. Its got everything a bass music lover could ask for on there, Dubstep, Glitch-Hop, Hip-Hop, and his take on the genre Moombahton he calls “Moombahglitch”. iLL Gates may be a master in the studio, but just wait till you see him take his mastery to the stage live.

Last but not least, “Ninja Tune Records” artist Starkey will be topping off the night with some of his original space vibe dubstep beats. Starkey is also the only non-UK DJ to host a radio show on BBC’s Radio 1. His beats are supported by some of the biggest names in the bass music community, yet still little is known about him. His music features lots of melodic arps, crunchy square wave basses, and ambient pads. His music seems to be all about taking the listener on an unexpected journey, constantly experimenting with sounds and rhythms along the way. There will also be local support from Denver local “Seied”.

If your looking to do something a little different this weekend, i would highly suggest attending this show. Its so great to see such a solid lineup of unique artists. This is sure to be a show that will hold concert-goers attention all night long. See you all there!!!

Tickets are on sale at Cervantes website/boxoffice for 18$, they will be 22$ at the door.

The year 2011 has seen dubstep shift into the mainstream exponentially. In January, Britney Spears’ newest single “Hold It Against Me” had a short dubstep breakdown, produced by superstar pop producers Max Martin and Dr. Luke. This was the first time anybody had heard dubstep on the radio (whether they knew what it was or not). Fast forward to May and flipping through your local metal station you could hear KoRn and Skrillex’s new song “Get Up!”, the lead single on KoRn’s new album to be released in December. Another single was released in October, produced again by Skrillex, as well as up-and-comer Kill The Noise. In interviews with lead singer Jonathan Davis, he refers to this new album as “future metal”, working with dubstep producers Skrillex, Datsik, Feed Me, Excision, 12th Planet, Downlink, Kill The Noise, and Noisia, to make an album that is “very well-rounded, with a mix of mellow, upbeat tracks; possibly the most well-proportioned KoRn album of all time.”

First off, if you’re expecting this to be in any way some deep melodical dubstep, look elsewhere. This is brostep through and through. After listening to the entire album I have to say I was somewhat disappointed. I found myself fast forwarding the tracks a lot, and I noticed that it was always once lead vocalist Jonathan Davis started to sing. His nasally voice just doesn’t sound good over these hard dubstep backing tracks. The only track that that I thoroughly enjoyed was most of the track “Fuels The Comedy” (produced by Kill The Noise). This track is great when Jonathan is rapping/yelling, and this is what really works well with this type of Dubstep, not singing. Some true head banging music. This album is trying to be hard, and the vocals don’t cut it. I think the vocalist from Lamb of God or any other metalcore band could have pulled this off much better (maybe not as radio friendly as KoRn, though).

Besides the vocals, the productions didn’t impress me much either. I’m a fan of all the artists featured on this release, and nothing in here is very new or revolutionary for them, and doesn’t showcase as much of their creativity as it should. It seems as if they were instructed to center everything around the vocals, which left them little to play with or be creative on. I wish the producers were featured as much as the vocals, which could have been really awesome, having some one or two minute-long dubstep breakdowns with no vocals whatsoever. However, I must say that Munky and Fieldy did an excellent job accompanying the crazy dubstep synths with their guitars.

Altogether this album was a letdown for me. I’m sorry if you’re a KoRn fan and this offends you, but I think they did this as a ploy to appeal to the youth of today (let’s face it, KoRn fans are getting older). On the subject of mixing metal and electro, lead singer Davis says that “since day one, KoRn has always been all about going against the grain, experimenting, and trying to take music different places”. I feel that if their intentions were to really do something so out-of-the-box, they wouldn’t be turning to chart-topping producer Skrillex to help them out with their album (Skrillex has also recently been nominated for 5 Grammys, all of which have nothing to do with his collaborations with KoRn). Electronic music and metal have been joined together before, and the only thing new about this idea is fusing a metal band with dubstep, and turning to some of the most popular producers in an absolutely exploding and money-making scene is a great place to start (sarcasm implied).

Since Britney Spears showed the mainstream media what dubstep is, KoRn’s released an entire dubstep album, Flo Rida has implemented a dubstep-style breakdown in his song “Good Feeling”, and Justin Bieber announced that he’s going to start working with “beats in the club, like dubstep” because that’s “what’s big right now”. KoRn’s “The Path Of Totatality” is the first of the sure-to-be many collaborations of mainstream artists and dubstep producers, let’s just hope some better ones come along.

“Small-town producer Josh Gard has had a long history in music, but lately he has been rapidly rising up the ranks of all things bass. Just a few short years ago he donned the name of Figure and began making electro house, and he has since become a regular name in the realms of dubstep and drumstep. Scoring positions in Beatport’s top ten charts may have gotten him recognition, but a fantastic amount of praise has been raining down on him lately as some of the leading artists in electronic music have valued his live performance skills as some of the best in the business. It’s those kind of endorsements that load up Figure’s tour calendar and make him a moving target that’s hard to put crosshairs on for interviews like our Introducing series.” -Beatportal

THE KILLABITS

After setting the internet on fire throughout 2010 with countless Dubstep Remixes and Underground releases The Killabits have come out strong in 2011.

Having teamed up with California’s Dubstep heavyweight ‘Play Me Records’ their April release ‘Hard Feelings’ has been putting them clearly in the international spotlight. Both songs from this 2 song mini-EP reached the top 20 on the Beatport Top 100 Dubstep charts within days of its release.

Having completed a recent west coast America run The Killabits are currently working on both blazing new Dubstep beats as well as collaborations with some of Toronto’s best musicians, all while planning trips to over-seas, the west-coast of Canada and back into America for a full length national tour. Coming out of Toronto, Canada where the talent is considered to be atop the international Dubstep & Electro playing fields, this Duo also maintains their weekly co-created event ‘Bassmentality’ This residency has reached international acclaim and has played host to some of the worlds leaders like Nero, Skrillex, Borgore, Doctor P and of course the other half of this events creators Zed’s Dead.

With recent releases charting on Beatport’s massively influential Dubstep charts, the iTunes US Top 200 & Top Pop 100 and strong support at BBC Radio 1 it’s easy to see why this hard-hitting production duo has such a rabid fan-base and are regularly considered a household name in the Dubstep & Bass music scene.

http://www.facebook.com/thekillabits

ISHE

Denver’s dubstep don is on a definite roll. Nathan Lappegaard, Ishe to the faces he’s melted (after a Dr. Seuss character), boasts a decade and a half behind the decks, and his serious experience shows. Anyone involved with CO’s EDM scene has witnessed his wicked mixing, explosive stage presence, and track selection firsthand, as he’s perpetually booked at both underground and massive events on a weekly basis. Kansas City, Lincoln and Salt Lake City are fans now too, thanks to recent out-of-state outings. Velcro City Records has been his label home-bass for over two years now and his releases regularly crack Beatport’s dubstep charts, with his rework of Joman’s These Breaks peaking at #16 in 2009. Rabbit in the Moon leaped at the chance to commission a remix earlier this year and Ishe tunes have showed up in mixes by the likes of Downlink, B. Rich, and Jeekos, top name a few. Ishe is a mainstay at all of Colorado’s biggest music festivals- Global Dance at Red Rocks, Caffeine, Electric Daisy Carnival, and Skylab. With a 4-track EP pending with fellow Coloradan Dirt Monkey pending on LA-based Play Me Records and remixes forthcoming on Kansas City’s Snatchy Trax, 2011 promises to a banner year for this veteran DJ and Producer.

Having just signed to Deconstruction Records they are now set to release their first single proper, the epic ‘End Of Love’ on Monday 5th December.

The single, which features a Leonard Cohen sample – the first time he has allowed a sample of one of his songs to be used – is taken from the duo’s upcoming album, set for release in early 2012 and which features collaborations with a new wave of electronic music stars and producers from around the world.

Having remixed the best in UK pop music including La Roux and Florence & The Machine – their remix of the former’s ‘I’m Not Your Toy’ reached number one on the Hype Machine chart – as well as Beyonce and Big Boi, Jack Beats have taken the hip hop aesthetic to the dance arena. Drawing on the best in UK dance music from house, dubstep and drum & bass the duo have created their own unique sound.

Jack Beats, aka Niall Dailly (Plus One) and Ben Geffin (Mixologists), are renowned for their DJ sets and are one of the only UK dance acts that are headlining raves in North America – last New Year they headlined a 25,000 capacity football stadium in Los Angeles and were recently one of the main acts on New York’s huge ‘Electric Zoo’ line up.

They are currently developing their live show with Bionic League (Daft Punk / Deadmau5) which they hope to premier early next year. Meanwhile the next “Jack Loves” Fabric residency is set to take place on Friday 2nd December.

Remixes for the single will come from Oliver $ and Koan Sound.

Dubstep DJ and producer 12th Planet, currently blasting through the sold-out 50-date The Mothership Tour (with Skrillex, Nadastrom, Two Fresh, J-Rabbit, Dillion Francis + more), still finds time to release his highly anticipated EP, Who Are We? The 3-track EP brings listeners the crushing bass and resonating energy that is synonymous with 12th Planet’s style and includes a re-release of his and Juakali’s chart-topping anthem “Reasons” (Doctor P Remix). The EP is being released though his own record label SMOG and is available for purchase now through iTunes, Beatport and other digital retail stores worldwide.

12th Planet, born John Dadzie, is no stranger to the game. He spent seven years touring the world as drum-n-bass maestro Infiltrata. In 2005, inspired by the burgeoning dubstep sound developing in the UK, John decided to push his own interpretation. His dedication and determination to this new sound saw him quickly rise to become North America’s reigning dubstep king. With remixes out for MIA and John Legend and forthcoming collaborations with Korn and Dizzee Rascal, the future is bright for this rising star.

The Who Are We? EP kicks off with title track “Who Are We?” featuring vocals by UK grime MC Badness and female vocals from Honey. The second track “Corner Pocket” is an original production by 12th Planet himself and showcases his signature style dubstep. The third track is the re-release of 12th Planet & Juakali’s massive single “Reasons” (Doctor P Remix) that gained well deserved attention when its video premiered on MTV2.

On November 25th, SMOG celebrates 5 years of hard work and success with an anniversary event taking place at the Galaxy Theatre in Santa Ana, CA. Alongside a super-star line-up of international talent and SMOG residents, party-goers will also get the chance to view a special screening of the 12th Planet documentary. With tons of free giveaways and BBQ grub being provided by SMOG’s favorite chef Jungle Riddim, this event is not to be missed. The newly renovated Galaxy Theater will host 3 rooms of pounding bass with state-of-the-art lighting and Funktion One sound. Presale tickets are available online for $15 though Flavorus (http://fla.vor.us).

Who Are We? is out now on SMOG and is available through iTunes, Beatport and other digital retail stores worldwide.

Fifties rock’ n ‘roll and bass-heavy club music aren’t two genres you’d typically put together, but in the mind of DROP THE LIME they’re a perfect combination. At the show, DROP THE LIME will fuse his two passions, classic rockabilly and rock ‘n’ roll and bass-pumping dance music, all the while rocking his signature New York bass style on tracks like “Shake Baby,” “Let’s Go” and “Hot As Hell,” all new tracks from ENTER THE NIGHT.

DROP THE LIME’s current single “Hot As Hell” is available now via Ultra Music and will be the first offering from his album. “Hot As Hell” was first released in the U.K. earlier this year to critical acclaim and had Mixmag hailing the music as “…a hellraising, rockabilly road trip…” Adds Culture Of Me, “…what he’s done with the single, mixing in his voice and an only-for-the-dance-floor drumming beat is nothing short of amazing…Maybe all the chola girls and greaser guys will go back and pick up 7″ records from the likes of The Collins Kids and Wanda Jackson to rip out their parts for more of the billy-bass tunes that may well all come from this. For now, though, we have ‘Hot As Hell,’ and you guys have a good time coming your way.” The song is also receiving support from U.S. tastemakers like KCRW in Los Angeles and the New York Post.

Luca Venezia (Drop The Lime) hails from the experimental underground electronic music scene in New York City and is returning for another high profile headlining performance just a few days past the one year anniversary of his last ‘mile high gig’ at Beta Night Club. This 25 year old childhood choir boy is sure to bring a performance style to Denver for the perfect start to ‘Halloweekend 2011!’

Supporting acts for the evening include Denver favorites Steffi Graf, American Royalty, 2Dubaii, and ISHE.

The night will also feature supporting performances by local favorites Skywalkerr and Got Bass resident, The Digital Connection.
