The Core Kids consist of Chris Scott, Scott Piz, and Luke Hottenroth. All three are students in the UCD Recording Arts program, as well as core monitors in the Core Studios. They have varying musical backgrounds, and all decided to work on a remix of Your Body (Christina Aguilera) together. The gods decided that it sounded so good that they officially bestowed the title of “The Core Kids” on the three of them.

Six remixes of Freq Nasty’s  new single from “Not Givin’ In” featuring legendary Saxon Sound System MC Tippa Irie, alongside Californian producer Solar Lion. The EP dropped on Halloween exclusively from Beatport.

Freq says he is “Really excited to be returning to my old home Skint Records for this release.” One of the major high points of this release is the insane Trap Remix by Flore, who has released before on  Mad Decent. Also premiering on the record is a storming drum’n'bass relick from Metalheadz artist RIDO, an intelligent face melting dubstep tip by Tenkai with cheeky doubletime breaks, South Africa’s Greg Reve on 120bpm rinse out duties, and house music up-and-comer Sonny Wharton rolling out some proper 4/4 wares.

The king of Moombahton, Dillon Francis, just released this huge new rework of his hit single ‘Masta Blasta.’ Keep it at 100 for this one because it literally jumps out of your speakers, subwoofer required. It’s great to see established artists like this showing support to a new genre.

Holy mother of Bass, CRNKN just keeps releasing non-stop fire! This new remix delivers that tearing metal style bass so clearly it will literally explode out of your speakers. Keep your eyes on his soundcloud page because you never know what is going to come next. With massive releases like this he is sure to be on some big line ups soon.

Day One Revisited

Day one of Electric Forest reminded me of jumping into a lake feet first, you don’t know what the water temperature is going to be, only you know it’s going to be awesome. When Leksy and I first got to the festival, we were taken back at the sheer size of the festival grounds and by the absolutely amazing food that lined the venue’s perimeter. After getting a big bowl of Thai food, we decided to head out to watch Borgore wreck the crowd. I have seen Borgore before, but not like this, at his stage I witnessed several thousand people jumping around, dancing, yelling and primarily smiling, as he dropped his brand new tracks. Just look at the pictures, and you’ll understand.

After the sonic destruction left behind by Borgore’s set, we settled down for a bit and checked out some of the vendors. One of which, Stolen Sunday, contained very unique clothing, which lead to a purchase by Leksy. After  scoping out some other vendors as I bought some pizza, and quickly headed back to the Ranch Stage to prepare for Wolfgang Gartner, an artist I have never seen live. When he stepped up onto the stage, the crowd went wild. He began his set with The Champ, if I’m not mistaken, and then it began. One of the unforgettable set’s of Electric Forest, at one of the most unique settings in the world. Below is one of his new remixes, along with the photos Leksy and I took from Day 1.

Wolfgang Gartner’s Remix of Miike Snow’s Paddling Out

Whoever would’ve thought that a trance song would sound better as a trapstep remix? Vico Ono & Rohr did, and it came out great. All that original tune was missing was a little sub bass.

Mad Decent’s “The Partysquad” has just released some remixes from their new EP “Badman Rave.” Scope these fresh new tracks all the way from the Netherlands!! If you’ve been looking for some fresh trap beats, here yah go.

Brilliantly produced Dubstep alongside brilliantly produced videos

Blackmill- ‘Miracle’

I stumbled across this brilliantly produced stop motion video created by Cameron Michael that included some relaxing melodic dubstep by a producer by the name of Blackmill.

Blackmill started of producing music at the age of 8 when he received his first musical instrument for his birthday – an Acoustic Guitar which he still plays to this day so look out for future tracks in this genre. At the age of 15 he started producing trance and uploading them to youtube under the alias “Robert J.C” As Dubstep grew throughout 2010 Blackmill took a shine to this new genre.
