Excision w/ Downlink & Antiserum @ The Ogden Theatre – March 4th, 2011

Canadian producer and DJ Excision will be returning to Denver at The Ogden Theatre Friday, March 4th with Downlink and Antiserum as part of his nationwide tour beginning in February. Excision has made quite a name for himself in the past year or two, becoming one of the highest charting dubstep producers on Beatport. The best way I can describe his music is to imagine two Transfomers dueling it out, while they’re getting down to some gangster rap and drum n bass. He has released a recording of each of his sets at the Shambhala Music Festival since 2008, all with rave reviews. Some even believe these mixes have propelled dubstep to the level which it is at today. Excision wanted to wait until he reached 50,000 Facebook fans before releasing his Shambhala 2010 mix this summer, but eventually gave in and released it a little early. Thousands of people downloaded this mix within the first hour of its release, even causing major bandwith issues. Seven months later Excision has now reached over 100,000 Facebook fans, a testament to his exponentially increasing popularity.

Hailing from Kelowna, British Columbia (the same city Excision is from) is dubstep producer Downlink who has recently blown up in popularity. He has worked with Excision on many tracks lately such as Reploid and Heavy Artillery, providing even more grime for all those bassheads, and he is featured prominently in Excision’s newest Shambhala mix. Also playing at this show is San Francisco-based producer Antiserum. Antiserum also makes some very hard dubstep, but showing great diversity also has tracks that can be a little more mellow as well. When Excision was in Denver in June he sold out Cervantes Masterpiece Ballroom, and there’s no doubt that this concert will sell out too. With a 50,000 watt PK sound system this show is guaranteed to be ridiculous, and if you love to get down to some grimy ass dubstep you’re not going to want to miss it!
