[Mustachio Bashio] Ft. Zita from Portland 4.30.10 @ Diamond After Dark

Since 2003, Zita has been a name that has been steadily gaining more popularity from the deejay roster in the Rose City. She has been known to play electro tech breaks, tech and electro house, and will occasionally sing over her sets, utilizing all of her talents in one sitting. She can blend into whatever setting she’s thrown into but brings her own flare an attitude along for the ride. She has played at most of the major clubs in Portland, Oregon and has ventured her way up to Seattle, Washington, and is a resident of Big Johnson Entertainment in Denver, Colorado. Being part of the female deejay movement and along with DJ Mani, she resided at Crush in Portland, OR for “Crave” every 3rd Friday in 2009 and was one of the regular deejays for the Out Like That events. Along with other local female deejays she spun for “Diva Dj Thursdays” at the XYZ Lounge in Hotel Aloft in Portland, OR. She also played at the Art Bar in Columbia, South Carolina in 2004 as the first female DJ to ever step behind the decks in the venue’s history. She has played along side Eva, DJ Rap, DJ Heather, DJ Mea, Reid Speed, and Baby Anne. But she’s no stranger to throwing it down with the boys and has played along side household names such as Meat Katie, Dylan Rhymes, Joey Mazzola, Max Graham, Greenvelvet, Stanton Warriors, Starkillers, Miles Dyson, Wolfgang Gartner, DJ Swamp, and Otto Von Schirach.

Bi-Polar is a live mix that Zita recorded and demonstrates her ability to mix and perform live vocals while deejaying. The album is an eclectic mix of breaks, house, tech house, and when her vocals are introduced, it adds a asthetic quality that cannot be duplicated to do the individuality of Zita’s musicianship.
The mix travels through the minimal to the booty to the rock to the ambient to the aggressive to the funky. Bi-Polar takes the listener from the ups to the downs back to the ups but has a stable artistic quality throughout.
